I have lived in Stokenchurch for many years and Stokenchurch medical center has been a consistent problem when it comes to patient care. I am never able to get an appointment when I need one, staff are extremely unprofessional, unhelpful and rude. I have called in for a number of issues with a time sensitive problem, each and every they are rude and very pushy for me to pay for treatments privately and very dismissive of how I am feeling. I dread having to call the surgery for any issues, I feel panic stricken and extremely stressed when I speak to them as nothing ever changes, they are rude to me on the phone and never available when I need an appointment. I am not someone who attends the doctors for a cold, flu or anything that can be treated at home so when I do call the doctors I genuinely need help.

If you have been a patient for many years I am surprised that you have not contacted me to discuss these issues. Although busy I pride myself on making myself available to see patients who don't feel they are receiving the service that we all expect and deserve. We also have an official complaints process where you will receive a written explanation from me. Without pre-judging, and as a generalism, your comments appear out of kilter with the monthly research ('friends and family satisfaction') which we conduct, and the unsolicited letters which I receive weekly, concerning how kind and helpful our staff is. Ninety-eight per cent of patients who regularly complete a response card are satisfied or extremely satisfied with the service we provide. Additional comments always feature their helpful nature. You obviously fall into the two percent who don't for whatever reasons. Please contact me and we can look at attempting to make your experience better. Regards, Martin Elliott, Practice Manager.

I needed to see a GP quickly so attended the emergency clinic that day. I was seen and referred to a specialist very quickly, where I was reassured that there was nothing seriously wrong. A potentially stressful issue was dealt with professionally, quickly, and sympathetically. The NHS comes in for a lot of criticism, some justified, but I couldn't have wished for better care from Stokenchurch Medical Centre, and Wycombe Hospital, so credit where it is due!

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to leave a response. I am glad that you found our on the day emergency clinic useful. Also that the urgent referral, and being seen quickly was re-assuring. I will relate this to those involved. Martin Elliott, Practice Manager.

I called first thing on Monday morning to get an emergency appointment for my severe conjunctivitis - my eyes were very painful and stuck together. I was told by the male receptionist that they were a doctor down and I would NOT get an appointment that day which was not very helpful. He suggested I went to the walk in centre at Wycombe Hospital if it got any worse, It did and I spent over 2 hours there and was eventually seen for 5 mins - I had an eye infection as well and was given eye drops and antibiotics neither of which have made much difference. I called the doctors surgery again today (Wednesday) as soon as the phone lines opened and was already number 12 in the queue. I finally got through to the male receptionist again and after being quite persistent I was offered an appointment at 11am. I rarely go to the doctor but it shouldn't be this hard to get an emergency appointment. If I had been given the correct medication to start with I wouldn't need to go there today and I would be feeling a lot better than I am currently.

I'm sorry that we weren't able to see you due to GP illness - it happens to the best of us. Thankfully it hasn't gone through the Practice which is due to good infection control measures. The advice you were given was correct. We have no control over Wycombe Urgent Treatment Centre, and if you have a complaint about the service you received there you should contact the Hospital Patient Liaison Service (PALS). When you telephoned on Wednesday you were given an appointment, and it is right that the receptionist questioned you, because you had received medication at Wycombe Hospital. We obviously need to ensure that with three times the number of patients requiring medical attention in 2018 than in 2015 that our clinician's time is focused. The point you make on correct medication is arbitrary as often you need to complete a course of antibiotics before the effect is achieved. To expect instant results in two days is hopeful. Anyway, I hope that you are now better. Regards, Martin Elliott, Practice Manager.
