I have rated Amersham Health Centre excellent on every one of your criteria; five star all the way. As I am now older and have health problems I need to use the centre’s services quite regularly. What strikes me is that the service is ALWAYS superb. Sometimes in interaction with a service organisation you can experience good days and bad days; but I can always get an appointment, if I phone early enough. The support staff; from reception, to doctors’ secretaries, to blood test results are always helpful. The doctors are always professional and competent, guiding me to specialists when necessary. Real quality is about excellence all the time; that is what my family experience with Amersham Health Centre. Towards the end of a working day, anyone working in such conditions would be entitled be less responsive to difficult clients. This just doesn’t happen at Amersham Health Centre. Whatever the time of day, they are always helpful and professional. I have friends and neighbours who go to other health centres near us, and have very different experiences; hard to get an appointment, abrupt staff, errors made…..I know that these things are understandable given the enormous pressures health centres are under, but this certainly makes my family thankful for our experience in Amersham. I would suggest that you consider making this Health Centre one against which others should be measured, and use it as a repository of ideas for best practice. During a recent illness, I needed to make five visits to the Amersham Health Centre within 10 days : twice to see my GP; twice to have blood tests and once to see an emergency doctor on a Saturday (via the 111 service). I was incredibly impressed with the efficiency, friendliness and professionalism of everyone I came in contact with at the surgery. This includes all the receptionists and the nurses, as well as the G.P. and the emergency doctor. I was always given appointments at quite short notice; everything ran on time; and all the test results were very prompt, always with a follow up phone call from the GP to explain them. I was also very favourably impressed with the 111 service, which provided a very thorough telephone interview, resulting in an emergency appointment at Amersham Health Centre within a few hours of the call (on a Saturday). I would like to congratulate the entire team at Amersham Health Centre, and thank them for the excellent service and care they provide.
