I attended the flu clinic last Saturday and was very impressed how well it was run and how quickly I was in and out. Also nice to see the Practice manager on site to meet patients. Feeling a lot more happy about the practice and hoping to see more improvements soon.

Thank you very much for your comment. We were also pleased with the Saturday Flu clinic particularly the patient attendance and how we ran the clinic. We have more clinic dates planned with the dates advertised in the surgery and on our website www.redwoodhousesurgery.co.uk I’m pleased that I was able to speak with you on Saturday about the vision for Redwood House Surgery and the improvements we would like to make. At the moment we are recruiting for new members to join the team. We have a new experienced salaried GP, Dr Suhanika Major starting with us 7th October and we have the clinical pharmacists working with us again. Further attention is needed concerning the appointment and telephone systems in place so we can improve the patient access to the surgery. We are also looking the IT and technology available to us such as online E Consultations, patient booking apps such as MY GP, patient online, etc. All patient feedback and comments are discussed at our teams meetings to celebrate what we do well and to learn where we can make improvements. Once again, thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment.

On any occasion when I have tried to book an appointment it has always prove extremely difficult if not inpossible. Mines open at 8, and if phone calls are picked up at 8.03 all the days appointments are already gone. According to receptionist, the only way to get an appointment is to go to the clinic at 8 and book directly, which is extremely difficult for anyone who works or has children. I have at times had to call over 200 (yes 200 times) before I got through). They clearly need more staff or fewer patients but the service provided is in inadequate.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment. My name is Jane Taylor; I am the new Practice Manager at Redwood House Surgery, I have been here for just for a few weeks now. We apologise for the recent experience you have had and want to assure you we are trying make improvements. The appointment system, the 8.00am walk in patients, the telephone system is not right at the moment and it is affecting the service we can give to our patients. After reviewing previous and current feedback from patients, one of my first areas for improvement is the appointment and telephone system in Redwood House Surgery. At the moment, the system we have in place is not working. Over the next few months we will perform a capacity and demand review of the appointments our patients need. Together with the Redwood House Surgery Patient Participation Group (PPG) the Partners and practice team will look to make changes to the appointments system. We need an appointment system that allows in advance pre bookable appointments and enables us to manage the emergency on the day requests. We also have telephone triage appointments and over the next few months we will introduce E consultations to the practice. The surgery telephone system has various message options that also need to be reviewed. I am scheduled to speak with the telephone provider this week to understand the programming behind the system and to try to make some immediate changes. We are also still actively trying to recruit a salaried GP to the surgery and are reliant on using regular locums at the moment. Once again, we apologise to you and our patients for not getting things right, we are endeavouring to sort things out. Thank You.

Really hard to get appointments, some of the doctors are very nice, others are very unfriendly and rude. I refuse appointments with a certain doctor because of their attitude, which makes it even harder to be seen. I am diabetic and now there is no diabetes trained nurse, I have asked a couple of times if she is being replaced and all I get is shrugs of the shoulders. No one seems to know and it isn't good enough.

Thank you for your comment, my Name is Jane Taylor; I am the new Practice Manager at Redwood House Surgery, I have been here now for a few weeks. We apologise for the experience you have received and will review your feedback as a team to look for ways in which we can improve communication. With regard to our patients Diabetes care; we have just recruited a new Diabetes Nurse and Practice Nurse to join the Redwood House Surgery towards the end of April. In the meantime, we have qualified clinical pharmacists and GP’s who can consult with you for your Diabetes care. I recognise that the appointment system is not quite right at the moment and at times it may be difficult to book an appointment with a GP of your choice. We are taking the following actions to try to improve our situation; • To carry out a capacity and demand audit over the next few months. • We are continuing to try to recruit a salaried GP to the surgery. • We are actively working with our Patient Participation Group (PPG) to make improvements around communication and the appointment system. • We are looking at our prescriptions and telephone systems in place at the moment. I would invite you to consider joining the PPG as your views could help shape are future plans and I would ask you to make yourself known to me so we can discuss your comment further. As the new Practice Manager, I can’t change everything overnight, somethings will never be perfect but we do have a planned approach to the next 12 months. With all comments or compliments we feedback to our surgery team to understand how we can improve things. Once again, we apologise for your experience. Jane Taylor Practice Manager
