With the NHS in crisis and education needed regarding the correct use of A&E why are reception staff asking if the reason you need to see a doctor is an emergency? If it was surely we would go to A&E! My husband has been sick for weeks, not one to moan about ailments and always last minute to book appointments, he attended two weeks ago and was given antibiotics but he's still very poorly. On 9/3/17 at 08.40 he got through and was asked if it was an emergency! He said it wasn't but wanted to see a dr and was booked for a telephone consultation. My husband works night but again not one to whinge about anything he didn't ask for any favours until 10am when he is still waiting for the dr to call him back. While on the phone to the receptionist the dr called and the receptionist informed him " the dr is calling you now" but continued to talk, you might think the receptionist would put the call through to him as he had only just tried but they didn't and instead said I'll put you on the list again as urgent and put a note on to say he needs to go to bed as worked all night. The dr called at 10.55 at which time my husband was in bed. I'm well aware how the NHS and drs surgery works and this type of treatment is abysmal.
