Sept 2019, The last time I tried to book an appointment there was a four week wait. There is no triage to give available appointments to patients who really need them. I waited four weeks to be seen and was then too ill to attend. I have sadly lost all confidence in this practice, I don't think it is safe to leave people waiting so long.

Dear Anonymous, I am really sorry that you had to wait up to four weeks for an appointment, which I appreciate is a long time. I do however; feel that it is important to say that generally patients would only have to wait this long if they were insisting on seeing a specific named GP, particularly if it is a GP that only works part time and/or if the GP is on leave. If you are prepared to see any of our GPs then the wait time is significantly shorter. You mention that there is no triage service available; however this is not the case. It might be helpful for you to know that because of the significant increase in demand for appointments we introduced a GP triaging service a number of years ago. This means that for patients who request to be seen on the same day or within the next couple of days, they will be offered a telephone call from a GP who will assess their need and make an appointment if this is required. Not all patients necessarily need to be seen in the practice and may therefore be offered a telephone consultation. Given your comments, I am surprised that you were not offered this option. I would like to assure you that for the majority of our patients the GP triaging service works well and I am sorry that this was not the case for you. I am also sorry to read that you feel that you have lost confidence in the practice and again I can only apologise and say that if you feel that it would be helpful to discuss this further then please contact the practice, mentioning your NHS Choices comment and ask to speak to me or Mary Mitchell, Operations Manager. I have needed to use the surgery twice in the last year as a new croydon resident. I am a younger female patient and I had to get my first Smear test, and also get a contraceptive implant removed. During both appointments the nurse and doctor were exceptionally kind and caring, making huge efforts to ease my discomfort at the situations. The reception staff dealt with my appointments swiftly and efficiently. I was able to access a new contraception of my choice in the same appointment as having the implant removed, which was not something that the specific contraceptive clinic at Croydon hospital were able to do, and so I am hugely impressed with the surgery as this gave me a feeling of being in control of my treatment and being able to make my own decisions about my care. This is my best experience of a GP surgery in London having moved around for the past 8 years and trying multiple surgeries.
