Having made an appointment (earliest possible date) I waited one hour after my appointment time to see the doctor. I had been asked to go to the surgery for a review after a month using new BP medication, but I am also suffering from other symptoms which may or may not have to do with this new medication. When I outlined these I was told "We can only deal with one problem in a ten minute appointment". The proposal (without any examination) was to defer the medication review and deal with one of the other problems after which "You should make another appointment". This I feel to be totally unacceptable, and certainly not a holistic approach to my medical condition, just one eye on the clock "Pick and Mix" doctoring. I was so upset by this unsympathetic manner (even if she was running late with her appointments), that I declined to carry on the consultation with this doctor, and am considering moving to another practice. |

I get the regular review on my medical condition by practice team and staff are very helpful when I call them to book an appointment or request for doctor to call back. |

Having suffered from a growing bronchial congestion, now spreading to my nasal passages, and with a disturbing discharge from my eye, I rang the surgery while travelling back from night shift at 08.00 this morning (02/12/2015), the starting time for booking same-day appointments. There was no response, even the "out of hours" answer being unavailable. This continued on callback on my mobile phone for some time. When at last I did get answered, and asked for an evening appointment, explaining my circumstances, the receptionist in a very self-satisfied tone informed me that all evening appointments had gone & I should have called at 08.00. There was a sllghtly embarrassed silence when I said I had tried to do this, but had got no response. The only appointment I was offered was mid-morning, and urgently needing my sleep after a night of trying to work with this condition, I had to refuse this. Tomorrow I was told would be the same situation. I was rather doubtfully told that I would be put on the waiting list for a cancelled evening appointment. Nothing has come of this.As the practice of which I have been a patient for many years seems in my experience unable to cope with its current workload, I find it strange, to say the least, that it is advertising to take on yet more patients. |
