I have to start by saying that the medical care from my GP is excellent and can not be faulted. The problem is the admin side and the receptionists. I have just spent ten minutes hanging on to get an appointment to be told there are none available today and tomorrow’s are book on line only. The is a regular occurrence. Online I can get an appointment at a surgery about six miles away for tomorrow but there’s nothing at my surgery until Thursday. Receptionists are less than helpful and discuss people’s problems openly at a desk at which everyone can hear. I have an ileostomy and am fed up with the times the receptionist has openly discussed details of my prescriptions in front of patients. I was really embarrassed last time and the receptionist even agreed with me it’s not very good. They regularly close the surgery for staff training with no prior notice - just a notice stuck on the door. Can’t they do this out of hours - they don’t open Saturdays or evenings so patients are inconvenienced anyway. Just imagine if the shop I work in decided to close to customers for staff training. There would be uproar and rightly so. I have never written a review before but my anger and annoyance at the way this surgery is run has spurred me on to do so. Their website is useless and asks you to enter ‘rooms’ to perform tasks - not easy to understand for someone who is very IT literate so I can’t imagine how an older person would get on. It’s far too clever - why can’t they just upfront have a list of options like book an appointment which is why most people go on there!!
