Letter of Complaint!! To Whom it may Concern, My name is Uwe Hermann Hirschberg. I have been a patient at the Wish Park Surgery since 2014. I am a British National and Resident. A friend of mine tried to collect A repeat prescription for me last Thursday. To her and my shock she was told I had been deregistered as a patient at the surgery, though not from the receptionist, but from the pharmacist. I subsequently called the surgery myself on Friday. I was told the following FALSE and INCORRECT statement. A. I had been redacted as I had moved to Germany for six months. FALSE! B. When I as a British National and British Resident travel for more that three months I will lose my local NHS registration. C. I should seek assistance in Germany for my prescription. As you should be aware the soon to expire EHC card only entitles me to emergency treatment. D. On my return home I would need to present myself in person at the surgery with a two month old utility bill. Such utility bill would actually show I hadn’t left in the first place. I am a British National and Resident. I am working as a psychologist/psychotherapist and as an organisational consultant in the U.K. I have and am living In the U.K. for 31 years. The last 24 years in Brighton & Hove. In all this time I have been paying my National Insurance contribution and continue to do so. Not to mention my taxes. I am coming back to the first statement... I would love to know where the false information that I have moved to Germany has come from. I really hope it doesn’t turn out to be an illegal breach of doctor/patient confidentiality. In any case it would be a totally incorrect representation. I left the U.K. in a campervan in September in order to travel Europe, to visit family in Germany, Sweden, France, and particularly the grandchildren in Italy. I come back and forth to the U.K. for my different work commitments. I am dependant on my medication Allipurinol (gout medication) Pantoprazole (for stomach acid and Barrets Syndrome) and Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. A forced return to the U.K. means 10 days self isolation without medication. I strongly ask you to reinstate my registration at the Wish Park Surgery, and in your duty of care to provide me with the aforementioned prescriptions. Regards, Uwe H. Appointments are always about a month away. Calling for same day appointments is no use as you can never get an appointment. Telephone consultation are also impossible to get. I have on a couple of occasions had to go to Walk-In centre and hospital for something my GP should have assisted with.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry you feel unhappy with getting an appointment at the surgery. We have recently made some adjustments to our clinics and now offer a variety of options following feedback from patients, which we feel will improve access. The surgery offers appointments on the day, both urgent and non urgent, appointments 24 hours in advance, telephone appointments that can be booked in advance of the day, and routine appointments that can be booked in advance of the day(up to 6 weeks). We will monitor how the structure works, as historically, those appointments booked in advance are more likely to be missed, and should this be the case, we may reduce the time or number that can be booked a number of weeks in advance, so appointments are not wasted. The surgery will endeavour to see any patient with an urgent need on the day, and keeps a number of appointments available for this. This might entail the need for our Duty Doctor to triage the request, but in most cases, you will either speak with a GP or be asked to call in late morning or afternoon as an emergency appointment. Please ensure you tell the reception team if your need is urgent If you would like to discuss anything in more detail, please contact the surgery and ask to speak with one of the managers.

I am writing this review to complain about the frustration I have had getting prescriptions. I would say that i have had continued problems getting prescriptions over the last few months. I have a very simple monthly supply that has not changed in many years. however I have been pushed from pillar to post between prescriptions staff receptionists and members of staff in the adjoining chemist shop, there is always an excuse and i am made to feel stupid for keep asking. My medication is for my mental health, and this situation is not helping at all.
