Good surgery with caring doctors who listen and are thorough and responsive. I always feel reassured by the calm atmosphere in the surgery. The morning booking system works well for me and my repeat prescription requests are always efficiently dealt with. Having recently been referred for various tests to local hospitals I feel I am in good hands with the GPs in the surgery to talk me through the results and next steps. I never feel like just a number in this surgery. I respect the philosophy of the surgery which means there will be times when I have to wait my turn in the waiting room but that means that when my medical needs require time with the doctor I will get that time. Thank you

I have been to this surgery a couple of times. Does not matter a bit if you have or do not have an appointment because you always have to wait at least 20-30 minutes. That is-although not very pleasant when you are unwell-understandable as they really take time and try to listen to every single patient. This is one of the reasons why I am shocked what happened next: I went there with my problem. He told me what the treatment would be. I have asked if there could be a different way of treating my problem as I am trying to avoid antibiotics and steroids if possible. He was not nice at all and did not want to listen to me at all. He kept saying that he can do what I want but I will be responsible for the result. This made me very upset and I thought it was very unprofessional to treat me and talk to me like that just because I wanted to ask for a different treatment if possible.I think it is understandable that I wanted to avoid these things after last time I was so sick even taking the first tablet and using the first bit of cream. What happened back then? I was not offered a different treatment, they just left it. So from my experience it is better to just let it heal itself as the doctor won't help. I could just cry as I still have a problem, my pain, nobody is here to help and I can start looking for a new gp as after this I will never go there again for sure.I should work but I cannot because of my problem but there is no help:(

Dear Ms Patient, Thank you for your comments expressing your problem with this morning's consultation and I do agree with you that it was not a satisfactory consultation. You presented to me with an acute problem and after examination, I concluded that there was only 1 solution for the treatment which involved a local application of spray containing antibiotics and steroid. I understood your fear of antibiotics as I could see from previous entry on the notes that you suffered from side effects of antibiotics and had to terminate the course of oral antibiotics prematurely. I therefore had emphasized to you that the treatment was not an oral course but a spray of local application. The local spray would not affect you systemically, You mentioned that you had similar problem few years ago and the doctor you visited abroad had used water to help you to get better. I therefore stated that it would not be my treatment of choice as it was not the same condition. I had to document that it was your desire to have that treatment instead of my choice of antibiotics spray. As a GP we now have to document as much as possible to avoid misunderstanding and other doctors would be able to see what condition and what treatment plan was given. I had to state that you did not want my treatment and would prefer to have yours. There is only 1 treatment for your condition and all the spray for your condition contained antibiotics. You concluded by saying you would think about the treatment. We are still here if you decide to have the treatment for your pain but it would be the same treatment with local application of a spray or drops which contain antibiotics and a steroid combination. I am unable to think of an alternative. You are very welcome to come back in the morning if you change your mind. Or if you decide to change to another practice we can understand your reasons. Dr Chang
