Trying to get an appointment in this surgery is almost non existent if you work. Trying to call at 8am when you are told too for an appointment that day. You can never get through until about 8.30 and all appointments are then gone. You have another option of waiting at the surgery from 7.30 for walk in appointments. If you work you have no chance of getting appointments or have to take says off for it. If you were to request a female dr it’s 5 weeks wait for an appointment, if you have something seriously wrong 5 weeks really. Accident and emergency is not always appropriate unless it is an emergency. This type of booking system is no use to those that work and can’t take time off to try and get an appointment. Generally there is no problem with the staff it’s appointment issues and trying to get to see a gp before your health deteriorates. Have now moved to another surgery because this is shocking

I have been with this GP since I moved to South Woodham Ferrers 4 years ago. I had a appointment back in Nov 17 of which the outcome was I would be referred for an outpatient appointment. I have had to chase 4 times over the last couple of months and have been left in the dark about my progress or position. It turns out my referral wasn't even sent back in Nov and again wasn't sent in March. Still unsure if it has been sent again. Whatever time of day I call, I always go out of my way to be polite and courteous to the reception staff as I could imagine them being overworked and having quite a stressful job. However I am always met with a rude, judgemental, snappy and unhelpful member of staff. It hasn't gotten to a point I no longer call and chase for my referral as I do not care to be spoken to in such manner. It always brings me down. I have waited 6 months for my outpatient referral and the stress of being in the dark has made my condition a lot worse. I feel so let down and encourage you to join a different surgery.

When you feel at your worst the last thing you want to do is race to the GP for 8.30 in the morning (which is when you are told to arrive for their unbooked emergency service) to find all appointments gone. The unbooked emergency system is a joke it is really just for anyone that wants an appointment within a month! When I tried to make an appointment for my child I was given one 3 weeks away. The booking system needs updating. Invest in a better telephone system so people don't have to arrive and queue for the doors to open like some third world service. Pre booking appointments is a mystery I'm told something different everytime but the answer is always phone back on the day(which never gets results) or wait weeks. The waiting room is limited as I sit in it now there are no seats left. If you have young kids it is awful considering how long the wait is not even a little corner for them to play in just some tatty books on a table that can't be accessed when the room is full. On the plus side the staff are usually nice here it must be awful to put up with disgruntled patients.
