I was seen promptly by a new Doctor. She quickly ascertained my pain was nerve pain from ongoing shingles. She discussed the medication I was currently taking and suggested I could increase this or her advice to try a different drug specifically for nerve pain and good explanation given of how it works. She checked medications I currently take for 'complex' needs were compatible and then drew up a plan to commence the tablet. She explained I would need to return to surgery in two weeks or sooner if new drug wasn't working or had side effects. We have 2 regular doctors who know our family history and those of our brother who are at the same surgery. So easily recognise hereditary issues like arthritis and hip replacement without disclosing confidentially they ask us for info on common illnesses. They are reliable and efficient in all situations. I had blood tests for diabetes which revealed kidney problems the surgery called me with appointment for that evening and the doctor explained situation was urgent and would need hospital admission. He rang and spoke to consultant and arranged for me to be admitted to the new unit at Princess Alexandra where I was admitted for a day and had all tests and saw consultants and got the urgent help I needed with follow up appointments. We have a wonderful health care system and I would hate to see it changed. My husband has had 3 operations, ankle fusions and hip replacement, all were efficiently done and good care given. |

I need to have regular GP appointments and I am always able to get them when I need them, either by booking in advance or on the day.
The reception staff are always helpful and caring and the GP is extremely supportive. |

We have lived in Abridge for 15 years and are very lucky to have such an excellent practice in our area. The Doctors and Staff are most helpful and very friendly which can make you feel better before you have seen the doctor.
