I’ve found it practically impossible to get an appointment over the last few years, either a phone appointment or a one to one. Last January, the Grove wrote to me to ask me to book a telephone appointment so that ‘the doctor’ could phone me! I tried without success for over 3 1/2 weeks. I only found out the reason when my cardiologist phoned me 2 weeks later. Towards the end of the 3 1/2 weeks I wrote to a named member of the ‘team’ as following a fall and in spite of the daily attention of one of my friends, a nurse, one of my wounds had gone very green and stunk. I received no advice at all. I currently need a GP to prescribe antibiotics and email it to a local very efficient pharmacy so that they can bring the antibiotics to me. I don’t need a one-to-one appointment, or a phone appointment. I’ve got a urine infection! I am disabled and so unable to attend any of their suggestions: A&E (which are for emergencies, not to prop up local GP inadequacies); neither can I attend a local walk-in centre (no address given in any case); nor do I need to contact NHS111. It was impossible to book an appointment today as they had closed their online booking service. The Grove needs an efficient Practice Manager who knows how to manage the ‘team’ and looks at the set up from a patient’s point of view. Meanwhile, I’m going to try and change my GP practice. The Grove has taken on too many patients and are thus are incapable of giving a good service to their existing patients.

This surgery made it difficult for people to make appointment. I have to go to the emergency clinic every time I need to see a doctor. Their appointment system is very poor. People that have had appointment with them has described how quiet their office is. I don't think they value people's life. It is better you register with a surgery that can help you when you need medical help. What is the the point of keeping a GP that does nothing for you?

The staff are friendly and the GPs seem to know their stuff (albeit they are quite hurried in my experience). The biggest problem I have is their appointment booking process: you can ONLY book appointments for the same day, and have to phone at 8am. The appointments are (according to staff) all gone within 20 minutes. If you need to see a GP but it's not an emergency, there's no way to book an appointment aside from this mad rush 8am - in which I might be taking the appointment of someone else who really needs it that day urgently. The only other option is a telephone consultation with a GP. There must be a better way to book appointment - this really doesn't seem viable. There's no online booking facility either.
