Problem Approximately 2 weeks ago after waking up with a painful foot infection I was seen by a doctor at QE2 following a referral from 111. I have type 2 diabetes. The problem was diagnosed as foot infection and anti-biotics were prescribed. Additionally, I was told to get an appointment with my GP for treatment for a severe nail fungus. I informed the doctor that I had used creams to treat the fungus on several occasions for several months to no effect. I was told that I should make an appointment with my GP who could prescribe a pill to treat the problem providing a blood test to assess whether my liver was healthy enough to take the pills. The anti-biotics worked well and the pain ceased after a few days although the inflammation took a little longer to disappear. The GP appointment was attended and a blood test organised. After a period of a week I telephoned the surgery for the results. I was informed everything was normal and the results were clear. I requested that a prescription for the appropriate pills should be issued. I was informed that the doctor would wish to see me but there were no available appointments and I should call back at 08:0 tomorrow. I queried this as a doctor at QE2 and the GP had both seen me and diagnosed treatment so why did I now have to see another doctor? Plus from previous experience the 08:00 daily shambles/lottery would mean I may not be able to get an appointment for weeks. The receptionist agreed and apologised. Now as stated I have type 2 diabetes and problems with feet are considered to be a priority. Can you tell me why then, after two doctors have seen me and diagnosed the problem, why do I need to see another doctor? This process is absurd especially with the extreme pressures on doctors’ appointments and is completely contradictory to a supposed priority for diabetes patients. I await with interest your response. Ron Flowerday 21 Mandeville Road Potters Bar EN6 5LG 07970833724 ron.flowerday@rfservices.uk.com

I have been with this practice 40 years and always appreciated that I am lucky to have chosen such a dedicated surgery to oversee mine and my families health. I was seen face to face during the pandemic, through all the protective clothing and have always managed to get an appointment within 48 hours max, generally the next day. All of the staff including the receptionists are caring and helpful and will do anything they can to help if you need immediate attention. I could not recommend this surgery enough to anyone new to the area. Thank you to the entire team. You do an amazing job, currently in very difficult circumstances with all the problems in the NHS

I had too many blood tests but get rarely the result. In two cases I had to wait 6months and the other more than 1year, but they don't give me a proper result. I have kidney troubles since childhood [operation] but I get no check ups or medical help with it, even when I told them a few times that I have kidney pains or some other troubles. Usually I need medication. I have Diabetes Type 2, since I'm a teenager and I need urgent some medical help but I get nothing. I have swollen legs, ankles, knees and infections, since nearly 10years. My hands, fingers are in pain and swollen... but no help. I'm a vegetarian and don't eat any meat since more than 10years. I don't eat meat and ergo I have no way to get any Anti-biotics. It seems the GP don't understand that. I had many virus infections since I'm a patient with the GP but never had any Antibiotics, they refused to give me anything to feel better. I'm always tired and take now Vitamins and supplements, but this is not a solution for a long term. I need proper medical help and check ups for my kidneys and liver. Please. Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you feel the service provided has not met your expectations. After we have taken bloods patients can call between 2pm-4.30pm and ask for the results 7 days later. However, if there was a cause for concern we would make contact to discuss them with you. If you wish to make us aware of your name so that we can review your care then please contact the surgery and ask for the assistant practice manager. We will then liaise with you directly in relation to your care.
