supported a family member who has autism with learning disabilities to attend for dental treatment, acknowledge that they have dna in the past but wishes to have dental treatment now. I take time off work to support them. First appointment changed by practice due to no dentist being available. Appointment rearranged and they attended. reception very good dentist ok though I had to explain a few things in plain english. Advice given on diet sugary drinks and smoking which they needed to address. Great news they took on the advice and still doing so. 2nd appointment attended, reception good again had to explain things with the dentist although better than first appointment. left with date for third appointment only for the family member to be contacted saying mistake at practice and that they needed to see a different person. Attended 3rd appointment late and was advised that they would be contacted the day after. That was begging of March 2019. I have contacted the practice a few times who wont speak to me as not the service user, fair enough. However ive requested that they contact family member to update. No communication has been sent 6th May Disability friendly???
