I first registered with this dentist last year upon giving birth to my daughter as my teeth became extremely sensitive. I booked an appointment for a check up which I had to cancel because my 2 month old baby was unwell. I then went on to book a private appointment for a consultation for veneers but had to also cancel this appointment. I have since tried to make another appointment with the dentist for veneers and have basically been told where to go. Apparently the dentist won't see me or let me book any further appointments because of the short notice I gave when cancelling my last appointments (they also have it documented that I didn't even cancel the first one, apparently I just didn't turn up, which is completely untrue). Well I'm very sorry I have to say that life does come with hiccups and things don't always go to plan, for example your child might come down with a sickness bug and you have to cancel an appointment that morning or you might not have adequate childcare because someone has let you down. I'm sorry but this reason is just unacceptable. They didn't even offer to book me in and ask me to pay a non refundable deposit. I will go an spend my £1500 at another dentist so more fool you.

Attended in May to be told I required 2 fillings. I had to cancel my appointment (with more than sufficient notice) due to job changes and rebooked for just under a month later. When I called to re-book I was told in fact it was 4 fillings I required and not 2, they made out to me that I already knew I needed 4 which I did not!! They told me they were going to discuss this when I went in for the 2 fillings. To find the money for the other 2 they now say I need is not easy and notice would have been nice! I had made it known that I was looking at composite fillings (private) due to being young and not wanting amalgam. These were supposed to be £120 each for the 2. I was extremely dissapointed that I had not been contacted and informed in fact I required 4 of these as the price difference is quite significant. After speaking with them again regarding the finance aspect of the fillings I was then made aware the fillings were £130 each. I have 2 witnesses who can confirm I was originally told £120. I was also told I could go in and discuss my concerns (terrible needle phobia) to put me at ease. This sounded like a brilliant idea until they were going to charge me a full NHS consultation price for the privalage. Fully expecting to receive yet more surprising and shocking news when I attend this week for 2 of the fillings to take place. Complete lack of communication has led to yet more stress and anxiety that I already have going on in my life.

Thank you for your comment. I see that you have been offered an appointment to discuss this further but haven’t done so yet. As you have passed comments in the public domain, we will have to reply in the public domain. 1. It is practice policy to review all exams and X-rays at the end of each clinical session. This is when the dentist has more time to double check any preliminary treatment plans that where presented at the short exam appointment. Any treatment plan is fully discussed with the patient before embarking on. This discussion takes place at the next appointment in person between the patient and the dentist. This appointment is a longer appointment and allows the patient time to ask questions. I note from your comments that you canceled this appointment. So therefore your dentist was not able to finalise your treatment plan with you. This discussion is conducted at the practice with your dentist (so that you can ask questions). This is a common practice and policy a cross the healthcare sector. 2. The practice standard fee for a cosmetic filling is £130, but this fee may be reduced by the dentist at their discretion. This reduced fee is only applied at the end of treatment by the dentist. 3. It is the NHS’s policy (not the practice policy) that if a treatment plan is not completed within a 2 month period then that treatment plan should be closed down and a new plan opened. You have stated that you last attended the practice in May and it is now August. This is a 3 month period. Again it is at your Dentists discretion if they wish to wave this fee. May I please ask that you contact the practice and speak to your dentist before putting comments in a public domain. Yours Middlewich Street Dental Practice
