I was diagnosed with gum disease which has been caused by other health issues that have affected my teeth. I’ve taken all preventative measures to treat the problem at home over the last 6 months with regular brushing morning and night and I’ve spent a small fortune on corsodyl mouthwash which I’ve paid for at the chemist. I have a large cavity in my back tooth after the filling came out some time ago and my previous dentist at another practice said I needed root canal treatment and root planing to prevent the acceleration of gum disease. Despite seeing the dentist on three occasions and having loose teeth that are falling out one after the other I have never received any treatment plan for gum disease even when it’s obvious I’m in agony and my teeth need cleaning below the gum line. I have had to make several trips to the A&E due to gum infections and dental abscesses and taken several courses of antibiotics the problem is still there. I have purchased special cleaning brushes and other products over the internet in an attempt to clean my teeth the best I can but my teeth and gums are deteriorating and this is causing me significant distress and pain. I have told the dentist on previous visits I need treatment so I don’t understand why my dentist hasn’t done anything to treat this severe problem and has only ever gave me partial dentures? I’ve read about the treatments available for gum disease on the internet so why hasn’t this been performed or offered to me? I am loosing my teeth one after the other and I constantly have bleeding and swelling to my gums and mouth making it difficult to eat and I’ve lost weight. I’m no expert but surely the dentist knows the distress this is causing me. Thank you.
