I’ve been a patient for nearly 10 years, in that time the dentists have changed a lot however to all of their credit, remained friendly and professional. My main gripe with these is the reception. Whenever I have to make an appointment it is 6 weeks plus, They used to send a courtesy message a couple of days beforehand however this is no longer the case and there is one particular receptionist who is just rude and unaccommodating if an error occurs. I hasten to add that I was supposed to have this treatment in June originally but I had to cancel due to work commitments, then wait until August, went in august only to be told it will be over 2 appointments - not a problem however I have to work as well and take time off for these things. The second appointment, I was en route to the appointment and called to confirm the time still stood to be told the dentist wasn’t in and needed to remake the appointment but had to within 4 days due to them leaving. I did all I could to make that appointment but work at the airport meaning I have to use the M1, which is notoriously terrible. I called in and told them, granted it was short notice, my appointment was bumped to October. My error as I simply thought it was 3/10 not 1/10 and I wanted to confirm the time. I feel like they are trying to get rid of NHS patients, they have treated both my partner and I so rudely on that reception. They’d do well to understand that yes, NHS patients probably don’t pay as much as private or “Inplant” patients however we still hand a card over and we are still a profit, where as on reception, they are an overhead. An automated self-check in or on-line system would be a wise investment in this practice - at least the prompt messages would come through to patients and they would reduce missed appointments.
