Attended this practice as an emergency patient and was told my wisdom tooth needed to come out. The dentist and nurse were personable enough but the extraction from anaesthetic to leaving the practice was no more than 20mins. I asked the dentist if I was ok to drive and he said I'd be fine (what sort of advice is that to give a patient after being pumped full of local anaesthetic?) I was walking down the street feeling woozy,having trouble swallowing and breathing became tongue was numb. Within a few hours,I started having fever and chills. After 3 days of this,I called surgery for advice only to be told dentist doesn't take calls and that they'd pass a message on and if he was concerned he'd call me in. I heard nothing. I phoned again only to be told I probably had an underlying issue so should go to my GP. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The symptoms were clearly due to the procedure and I probably had an infection and needed antibiotics. The receptionist wasn't having any of it. I rang GP surgery and they were flabbergasted. They said this was down to my dentist to sort out. Called practice again with this information and then got some poppycock about them being worried about something more serious going on. They said come in if I wanted to. To that,I replied I had lost faith in them and that their aftercare was non-existent. I called 111 who told me to phone Wedgewood House dental practice. From that point on I was treated with the utmost professionalism,kindness and empathy. I was thoroughly investigated,told I had dry socket and an infection (which was no surprise) My wound was flushed,medicine packed and I was given a prescription for antibiotics. They were/are angels. The level of aftercare from Tavern Street was an absolute disgrace and the difference between them and Wedgewood House is like night and day. Wedgewood House really care about their patients,and it shows.

Dental practice has now blocked me on all social media (FB and Instagram) also ignoring my email so I they are refusing communication and to pass over my notes as they are aware this is going to Ombudsman and CQC ??Tavern Street Dentist?? Attended on Jan 2nd due to having issues with a tooth (filling fell out) Dentist & Practice Owner – GDC No. 177452 Cheerag Raval, took an x-ray of the tooth I was having concerns with, advised there was an abscess on the tooth. Gave me two options, root canal which would have cost a disgusting amount or to have the tooth extracted, which I agreed to. Not knowing what I was getting myself into, I should have demanded antibiotics prescribed to clear the infection before ripping it out of my mouth - or even get antibiotics for after to clear the infection, which he failed to do so. I had to attend accident and emergency due to the botched job they completed on me. Having follow ups at the hospital because of all the damage. My face, eye socket and sinus tripled in size and not single care was given over the phone, expecting more money from me just to prescribe antibiotics that should have been given in the first place. A formal complaint has been sent to the dental surgery but are not answering me and continuing to post social media posts while blocking comments and reviews.
