I saw the principal dentist for check-up and treatment and she was thorough and very informative, just how I like it. She shows genuine care for the patient and her approach and skills impressed me. I am happy and the staff were friendly too.

I went to the dentist on the 6th August 2019 as an emergency as my tooth had broken and I was in agony. I had to leave work due to this and phoned around all dentists in the area to get an emergency appointment that day. Unfortunately the only dentist who had availability for this was Pedmore. I have previously been to this dentist before and would do anything to avoid it due to the disgusting treatment by a dentist. I had a tooth out years ago by this same dentist and when it was being pulled out, I was told to raise my hand if it hurt. During the surgery I raised my hand as the numbing was not sufficient and when I did, my hand was pushed away and was told we were nearly finished. This is not okay. This is poor practice. I had not been back to this dentist since this in 2015, however due to the agony of my broken tooth on the 6th August 2019, I could not refuse to go. Once the dentist was ready to see me, I entered the room and immediately after saying hello she abruptly said that she thinks I will break the chair due to my height and size. (I am 6ft 7" and overweight), however I have had previous treatment at this same size from the same dentist before. She was extremely rude, then got me to sit down on the chair which I was allegedly too heavy to sit on (massive contradiction) and then inspected my mouth and started to talk about other teeth, which was not the reason I was there, as i just wanted the 1 tooth out that day. She then took me for an x-ray which I was too tall for as this was a machine. She then proceeded to take my glasses off me, kept telling me to stand still, but moved my body at the same time, kept telling me to crouch. Then she told me to get out of the machine, I asked for my glasses, she just walked off and I had to feel around and find them. She sent me to the waiting room as she awaited the x-ray. I was in the waiting room for around 10 minutes, she brought me back in, showed me the x-ray and persisted to talk about all my other teeth (I know this is her job, however I had made it clear at the start that I was only there for the painful broken tooth). She started being rude and patronising about my weight, whilst being loud with the door wide open and other patients walking past. She then wanted me to go into the town centre (which is around a 2 hr round trip on a bus, as I do not drive) to get weighed and bring the slip of paper back to show her. She kept saying she could not take the tooth out as she would put too much pressure on the chair and would break it with me in it. She said i would have to be referred to a reinforced chair dentist in Derby. In brief she had no tact, refused to give me any temp pain relief with clove oil packing, no painkiller or antibiotic prescription to bring the pain down. The earliest the new dentist can fit me in is the 16th September, in the meantime I have to suffer due to this dentist refusal. Disgusting to say the least. I will be writing a formal complaint.

I visited this practice recently and was very impressed with the cleanliness of the practice along with the staff that worked there. The principal dentist explained everything to me very thoroughly and made me feel at ease. Most importantly I was seen very quickly which I know is not always the case.
