I am a very nervous dental patient and have always had severe anxiety around even just a check up .I was referred here by my dentist and I'm so happy I was! The staff were all excellent starting with the receptionist, who was very kind and friendly. The dentist and dental nurses I was seen by were all really lovely people who put me at ease. I've often found being at the dentist stressful as previously I've not been clear on the treatment or problem, as well as feeling the person treating me is a total stranger . At the Akerman I felt the dentist was totally transparent, showing me my treatment plan, x-rays and explaining in layman's terms until I was happy i fully understood everything (even humouring me and my self-googled worse case scenarios), she put me at total ease. before the sedation and extraction she took the time to talk through any last minute worries and made sure to introduce everyone in the room (this is important to me, to know who is actually treating me). The procedure itself went without a hitch and I came out feeling confident in the dentists work and totally un-traumatised.If your a nervous patient or have suffered bad dentistry in the past this is really the place to beat! Have received excellent care from this dental practice, especially as I have unusual and complicated dental issues. Apart from the difficulty sometimes getting an appointment, (due to demand exceeding availability), the service I have enjoyed has been faultless. From the friendly receptionist through to the knowledgeable dentists I cannot fault this clinic. I have always benefited from honest, well considered analysis of my dental needs. Various treatment options have always been provided along with a frank discussion detailing the potential efficacy and future pros and cons of every option. Detailed costings were provided during my initial consultation and have been accurate to the penny. I was informed from the outset that the clinic is not a dental beauty parlour, but a clinic for dental health. My dentist even discussed how I might get the most favourable aesthetic results by combining private cosmetic dentistry with the services the clinic provided. This 'outside of the box' thinking has enabled me to reach considered decisions based on need, desire and cost, and to plan accordingly. Being treated as an intelligent human being capable of making decisions that are the right ones for me has been fantastic. From exceptional standards of hygiene throughout the clinic to having to pay a pleasantly low bill I cannot fault these guys.
