I have been receiving ongoing treatment with this dental practice, and at the time I suffered with anxiety, I was shocked at the way I was looked after seeing as the dental practice specialise in patients with anxiety. Their choice of words and the way I was spoken to by one Dentist on one occasion caused me to leave the surgery in tears, which left me feeling even more uncomfortable to return to have my treatment finished. After sorting my personal life out at the stresses I was facing health wise and personally, I managed to over come anxiety. My job means that I am in different countries a lot of the time and unfortunately on the rare occasion am not able to let the practice know of my cancellations with 24 hours notice, but do at the earliest convenience; For reasons out of my control. However I let the practice know at the earliest opportunity, leaving voicemails due to no one answering the phone and even going to the existent of messaging my partner to let them know for me. Today I received a abrupt phone call advising me that I was no longer welcome to receive further dental treatment unless I go private as I have made cancellations before. (I have only cancelled twice due to situations out of my control, the other times have been due to me feeling uncomfortable to return, I personally feel like they have been trying to push me to go private from the start and this is their opportunity to try and force me to do that or leave the practice). The small handful of times where I have cancelled has either been due to being stuck in another country or because of the way I was treated made me feel uncomfortable to return. On the first time that I had to made a cancellation was due to one of the dentists informing me that he doesn’t have the time to waste to speak to me and telling me incorrect information making me feel very vulnerable and distressed while having treatment done. On this occasion where I had to cancel, i left a voicemail very early requesting a call if there was any issues as I would still be able to attend but was extremely tired after my long 16 hour day, which I was shocked to receive a call back 4 hours later advising me I was no longer welcome to have NHSs treatment, the receptionist added at the end she will wait to see what the owner of the practice says and now leaving me in limbo. I feel personally like the practice doesn’t want me to return, and I felt this early on when I had the issue arose with the dentist who was extremely unprofessional and rude. (The owner of the practice did apologise for this dentists behaviour, but the practice itself doesn’t seem to understand my feelings when suffering from anxiety, nore situations out of my control). I must mention one receptionist in particular who was always lovely and kind to me, but unfortunately I don’t know her name to mention.
