Chapel View Care Home

My mum was sent here for a couple of weeks respite following a stay in hospital and was unhappy. After a few days she developed a bad UTI (she was on a catheter). The care home didn’t seem overly concerned. I was away for a few days but other family members visited and mum’s condition didn’t improve. On my return I was shocked to find my mum I’ll in bed and delirious but still the staff showed little concern. We called an ambulance who took her to hospital. The care home got defensive band thought we were making a fuss but the paramedics said it was the worst UTI (going on the colour of the urine in the bag) they’d seen. The hospital said we did the right thing in getting her to hospital where she is now receiving excellent care and attention. Mum seemed traumatised by her stay at Chapel View and is fearful of being sent back so we’re asking ourselves why? It’s bad that you entrust care of your loved ones to people you don’t know and they let you down. The outcome could’ve been far worse had we not intervened when we did. Mum should’ve been in hospital much sooner.
