Wonderful experience. Mum is in the latter stages of dementia. She was very resistant to the idea of care homes - as was I - until I went here. I looked at half a dozen others before here. I was immediately won over by the offer of 'Turn up when you like' i.e. there is no need for an appointment and we have nothing to hide. I was shown around - both the staff & residents said 'Hello' - and was shown a lovely en suite room with a view of the garden. Mum has settled in brilliantly. The 2 minute walk from her room to the dining room takes 20 minutes as she stops a every staff member and says she loves them, hugs them and kisses them and they say the same back. They will dance with her (even when there is no music) and ensure she is happy and content. She will even sit in the office, has her own foot stool, and falls asleep while the Manager works.
The home is undergoing a number of positive changes. It is being reflected in its rating. I have no reservation in recommending it whole heatedly. It is a positive, clean, friendly and professional environment where I feel safe to trust my Mum's care. I cannot give it a higher praise. Reply from Berry Hill Park Care Home Tue, 05 Jun 2018 09:44:24 +0100 Dear Mark, We’d like to take a moment to thank you for leaving such a wonderful review of our home. It means so much to our colleagues when they receive this level of praise; they work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver the kindest possible care to Residents and hearing such fantastic feedback is really the icing on the cake to them! Thank you, once again, for your kind words. |

My mother in law has had very poor service at this home, in many ways, a home which has had SIX managers in 3 years! Every time a new manager comes in with high hopes they leave quickly and it is no wonder really. I reported this home to the Care Quality Commission 3 times in 30 months and every time they found several areas not up to scratch. They told me I was right. The home responded by banning me!! Yes, that's right and they said it was due to my aggressive complaining!! I would always complain when a relative waits 30 or even 60 minutes for a response to the emergency chord. Instead of passing the buck try being a decent care home and try accepting criticisms and put what is wrong, right. '' 1 out of 10 must try harder!'' |

We were told tonight by our elderly relative that she had waited over an hour for the emergency cord to be answered today. This is longer than usual but she often waits 15 minutes plus.
There were 2 residents tonight, each calling out for help in the lounge with no response. I pulled the emergency cords and there was zero response until i started searching the building for help myself. One lady was almost undressed and another was crying.
I am sorry but this home, despite being modern and quite big leaves a LOT to be desired, staff levels are very poor indeed quite obviously.
Someone needs to sort this home out. Not impressed at all. |
