There is only 1 nurse on duty for 71 residents. Care assistants are left in charge of 2 residential units. The number of staff on duty is low to the amount of residents. the food is not very good or appetizing. Cakes taste of fish! The staff never have time to talk to residents or family visiting and the family dont always get told everything so they cant make the decisions. Most of the time there are agency trained nurses on duty. Personal care is poor on the nursing unit. They might get a bath a week, clothes are not always changed & the men not shaved for days

We have spent some time looking into the concerns raised in this post. Our staffing levels are agreed on the basis of the number of residents in the home at any point and the dependency needs of each resident. While our home can cater to 71 residents, we were not at this level in December when you visited the home and so would have been staffed accordingly. Our home comprises three units: nursing dementia, residential dementia and residential frail. Each unit is staffed independently – the residential units are led by senior carers and the nursing unit by qualified nursing staff. In this context, it is feasible that at the point of your visit, there may have only been one nurse on duty. However, in all cases our nurses and senior carers are supported by caring, well-trained and what we firmly believe are extremely high quality carers. We know that great care demands more than just the right number of people in the building at any point and invest in training our teams and providing clear career pathways for those looking for development opportunities. Furthermore, in a recent industry-wide survey, our team of carers at Stanley Park received a 100% rating against the statement “staff treat me with kindness, dignity and respect” and we believe this an extremely important part of delivering great care. The care industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission, found us to be fully compliant with all standards around the quality of our care, including staffing levels, the respect we show our residents and our ability to protect them from harm. Last month, we also had our environmental health audit, during which we were assessed on the quality and cleanliness of our environment and the safety of how we approach things like food preparation. We are delighted to say that we received a five star rating. Having said all that, we never like to hear of anyone having a negative experience of our home and would welcome a chance to talk this through with you in more detail. You can call the home directly at any time on 01207 201 081.
