Absolutely diabolical place. No staff interaction with the residents, extremely rude staff. If you want your loved one shoved in front of a tv all day then this is the place to be! Staff look constantly miserable, the place is really grotty. Dirty chairs, nothing for the residents to do except stare at tv or sleep. Even the bed linen I’ve seen looks like it’s older than some of the residents. I have even witnessed a resident ask to go to bed to be told she would have to wait by a member of staff as she was going for a cup of tea first. |

I have been visiting my husband in Westside Nursing Home for two years. In that time you get to know the staff and the residents.By far the majority of the staff treat them with good humour and patience and in some cases a great deal of patience is needed. In any work place where you are dealing with people some show more aptitude than others. It has been a difficult year due partly to change of management. If the person who criticised the staff was a regular visitor she could have made a complaint to the nurse on duty.I have found the majority of staff good-humoured and efficient and caring. |

I am 67 years old. Visited a patient at west side, micklover last week. Shocked to tears witnessing one of the staff shout and handle roughly one very, very frail gentleman who happened to fall asleep and spill his tea. He was shouted at and ordered to stand up. If the staff act in this way in front of visitors, what happens behind shut doors? The general atmosphere was unfriendly. No smiles, grim faces. Does this mean unprofessional, unhappy staff? Management incompetent?
