She has grown stronger and is making such good progress and as a family we have found all of the employees at Southwell court to be excellent. Grandma asked that I write and thank you all, for what you do every day x

Apr 24 2016 My advice to anyone wishing to put their loved ones in to any care home , is to ask a lot of probing questions, which with the benefit of experience, I can impart: If your relative has to go into hospital, ask if they send with them their medicines and an overnight bag as current policy is that they don't. If your relative is particularly vulnerable and has dementia, ask if they will always send someone from the care home to the hospital. Currently this is on a "best endeavours" basis. Do also check that the activities listed on the notice boards, do take place. This care home advised us after our mother moved in that whilst they took in residents who had dementia, they were not by any means experts in dementia care. Had we asked these questions before moving in our relative or indeed had they been upfront and communicated these issues pro actively we would, for our relative, chosen a different provider. I have checked the "Neither likely or unlikely" box for this care home as it does depend on the level of needs your relative has and for non-dementia residents it may certainly it be one of the best around.
