I was admitted to Ward 26 on the10th of September 2019 for the above procedure the following morning. I was soon established in my bed space, one of six in a unit.
It was light, airy and comfortable. I was then visited by members of the surgery team and an anaesthetist who went to great lengths to describe my operation. In the mean time I was being prepared by nursing and other staff.
I had a comfortable night and the following morning I had my procedure. I awoke in the recovery ward feeling not to bad at all. (The last time I had had a general anaesthetic was 22 years ago when after a hip replacement I suffered a long and nauseous recovery.)
I was returned to my ward and over the next four days I was extremely well looked after, physio, drains etc. Finally I was discharged on the fifth day and returned home extremely happy.
I cant emphasis too much how good the care and comfort was I received whilst in Glenfield Hospital. As we live in Northampton my wife stayed with me during my stay, Relatives accommodation is available a short distance from the hospital which she used from day one .Pleasantly furnished with access to a large kitchen and lounge area she met with several other people from the east midlands with families receiving similar treatment. She also took advantage of an escorted buggy service at night to the accommodation by the Hospitals security service whom she praised loudly for taking her to the door in the dark.
My gratitude was fully endorsed yesterday when we were told the nodule removed from my chest wall was non cancerous.
