I had a biopsy taken here. When I consented I noted that I expected a copy of the biopsy report to be sent to me. This was agreed by the theatre staff. I was notified that I would receive the results in two to three weeks. After three and a half weeks I contacted my GP and there were no results. I telephoned Epsom Day Surgery and was told the results had come in and were being looked at by a nurse. I was called back and was told that I could only receive the results at an appointment with the dermatologist for a treatment plan. I was told I could have the results earlier if I applied for them to my GP. I was assured they would be emailed to my GP. They have not been received by my GP and therefore I cannot collect them. In summary I was given an incorrect time-frame; I was told I would be sent a copy of the results - this has now been refused; I have been told I have to see the doctor for follow up - evidently so he can explain the results to me - there appears to have been an assumption that I will not understand the results. I am not prepared to see a Dr until I have the same information about my results (my body) that he is privileged to. I can only assume the results must be of concern otherwise there would be no need to see the dermatologist again. If there is a concern I wish to have the report. I have cancelled the appointment with the dermatologist until such time as my initial request when consenting to the procedure is adhered to. If it is not bad news why waste my time and that of the Dr if the NHS is supposed to be so stretched. This has been frustrating, opaque and lacks integrity. I expect 100% agency over results relating to my body. If those responsible for this provision do not accept that the patient is entitled to complete agency then I have no wish to deal with them any further because all trust is lost. |

I have just had an ear reconstructed due to a cancerous mole. The care given by Epsom Medical staff has been excellent and the skill of the surgeon to give me a new ear that looks pretty much identical is incredible. I feel very lucky that this level of skill and care is on my doorstep. It was all very easy and straight forward.and I would definitely recommend them. |
