I was sectioned to Cheadle Royal in December 2020.I had suffered a work stress breakdown in 2016/17. I relapsed in 2020. Whilst sectioned at the hospital I was abused by a male nurse and other staff members. Weekends are particularly bad as the hospital employs bank nurses. I was subjected to hourly inspections, yes necessary, but with my inspections they made sure I was woken each time. They'd ask to see my eyes open when inspecting me. This is critical because it causes huge lack of sleep. But that was their objective in my opinion. Then on a certain night things got out of hand. I was in my room when a group of staff began to congregate outside my room. It caused alot of fear as I did not know what was going to happen. The ringleader was a male nurse whose first name starts with G. I was that petrified I began to sweat and shake. It then caused me to have a psychotic episode. My room was then stormed by the staff congregating outside my door. I was put onto my bed facedown and injected in one of my buttocks. It may well be you may think it was a simple situation whereby I was having a breakdown inside my room and the staff came to my room to sort matters out. But that was not true. I was on the road to recovery and would soon be discharged. So, my complaint relates primarily to G. He is guilty of gross professional misconduct in my opinion. He is a wicked man who takes pleasure from tormenting the souls of the mentally ill. |

Having had 3 seperate experiences of this place has left me permanently traumatised, and scarred for life. I first went at around 21 years of age, and am now 42. Most of my life, therefore, has been ruined by Cheadle Royal, Russell house. The head psychiatrist was dr Kay Callender ( don't quote me on spelling), and she seemed to be experimenting with us all. |

I was admitted to Alder Ward, The Priory, Cheadle Royal Hospital in the early hours of the morning via an NHS admission, so I was an inpatient for just over two days. Whilst my stay was only short, I was impressed with the staff, how friendly they were, attentive, and had great listening skills, especially some of the HCA’s I spoke to. One issue with Alder Ward was the stairs to the female bedrooms, but that fault lies with the bed manager for my own mental health trust who sent me there. And with respect to Alder Ward, they told them about the stairs, and did offer to move me to Maple Ward, but I declined the offer as I felt it would be more distressing. The ward is clean and tidy, welcoming, and it is clear there is a lot to do during the week to help patients with their recovery. I was not there long enough to experience this. I also noticed if patients wanted to go out, there was always someone free to take them, i.e., they didn’t have to wait ages to be escorted. |
