My mother recently passed away - she had terminal cancer and the start of alzheimers. Over the last 2 months we organised carers from Epoch to visit mum, initially a couple of times a day and then towards the end of her life when she required more care 4 times a day. She went from being a very independent, active lady to someone who required regular care and lots of TLC. I was so impressed by the carers from Epoch – the clue being in the word carers – they all genuinely enjoy their job, give excellent care, but also give that little bit extra which is so important and very reassuring as a relative when leaving a vulnerable relative in someone else's care. They not only gave good care but were always punctual, phoned immediately they were concerned and were easy to contact if I had any worries. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Epoch care to anyone.

We would not have any hesitation in recommending this company to our friends and family. We have found the staff caring, professional and experienced since we first started using them in November 2015. They give personal care to my mum four times a day, always treating her with dignity and respect. Dad also looks forward to the visits too, as it is company for him. The service that is provided is a lifeline to keeping mum in her home environment whilst being cared for in a professional manner.

I started with this company when they first started. I was told it was a small company and it would stay that way so they can give clients quality care. That didn't last long.... unfortunately they took on too many clients and didn't have the staff. As someone who doesn't need personal care, mainly going to hospital appointments as I have quite alot, I needed what they call 'sits'. This is more than an hour each time. I was let down for appointments a few times, the reason they gave was I hadn't paid my bill. This was true but as I wasn't paying this myself (social services were) I was told I was responsible for making sure they only got paid for work they did. One of the bills was totally wrong so I called them and explained the situation to be told someone would get back to me but not to pay it. This happened for 7 months, every single bill was wrong and all were in their favour. I'm not talking £10-20 more £150-200.00 each month. I called and text them as I was worried the amount in my account was building up and I needed to get it sorted. They ignored alot of my texts and when I called they promised someone would come out to see me when they could. No one told me I would be left high and dry when it came to an appointment and no one was coming. I tried calling the office and 2 other members of staff but they ignored all my calls. Eventually after phoning the office again they hit a new lady to tell me I hadn't paid my bills!! She was unaware that I had tried on numerous occasions to sort this. It did eventually get sorted but it wasn't easy. Just a matter of weeks after I got my notice that they couldn't provide care for me anymore. They were told from the beginning that I didn't want lots of different ppl coming as my son has aspergers and they told me that wasn't a problem.... unfortunately it was for them. It seems too many chiefs at this company and not enough Indians. Even the staff told me they were getting too greedy and I'm afraid I agree. My advice to all clients is check your bills... if they did it to me they will have done it to others too. Oh and they are still doing sits it was all lies...

Thank you for your review. As a company we would like to take the opportunity to respond to your review. Epoch Home Care is coming up to being three years old. We still have a very small client base and a large number of carers. All of our carers are inducted and fully trained before putting on our uniform. The Care Quality Commission checked all our paperwork when carrying out of our inspection. Our turnover of staff is very low. Everyone that started with our company at the start is still working for us. You did indeed need sits; but you would only welcome one carer and this unfortunately was not feasible for various reasons, including days off, etc. When that carer went on holiday you would cancel your care for the duration of that holiday. Although we have a waiting list we kept you as a valued client during this time without asking for a retention fee. When you did have care most of it was spent taking care of things for your son, rather than yourself, including his laundry, etc. In total you met 6 separate carers in the whole time we were responsible for your care package which was for a duration of 19 months. This is not an excessive number. Your care was funded, you are correct; but you were responsible for paying our invoices from the money that was sent directly to you by social services. A month prior to us finishing providing you with our services you were approximately £4400 in arrears. Your invoices were not incorrect every month and our manager came out to your home and sat and had a meeting with you and went through them and discussed the charges, etc. You were happy with the outcome yet still did not contact us to clear your outstanding balance until three months after we gave you notice when we continually tried to contact you to clear them. I would also point out that you lived approximately 8 miles out of our service area and would regularly cancel your care with five minutes to spare of the carer arriving at your home. This was still chargeable in line with our 24 hour cancelation policy yet you were under the assumption this did not apply to you. As for us having issues with your son having Asperger’s – we absolutely refute that comment. We are a care company and we supply care for all different people; including people with Asperger’s. Towards the end of your care we felt that we could no longer meet your needs as a care provider and suggested you may benefit from a personal assistant. We gave you the correct amount of notice by letter and wished you all the best for the future.
