Home Care Service

Initial needs assessment made on day of hospital discharge. Help provided on that day and 4 times a day subsequently - great. BUT erratic meal times and first visit of the day can be after 9.30am. The service does not provide a cleaning service, a shopping service and cannot boil an egg (as they only use a microwave), no provision made for incontinent client until a week after discharge eg. mattress cover sheet or pads. 2 weeks in client has not had a shower or her bottom washed. No indication of what a carer has done on the visit. Do not appear to order medication. Unable to empty kitchen pedal bin in timely fashion. Leave half full/empty TINS in fridge. Whilst one can appreciate the pressure on this service at this time, to date this has been so far removed from best practice, it is sad. How can a client expect to remain at home, safe and in comfort if provision is not as advertised
