Taunton Vale Healthcare: Victoria Gate Site

I agree with the overall comments that others have stated in their reviews, Victoria Gate was a lovely surgery. The Blackbrook also was many years ago, when I was a child. It is horrible now, I sat in a corridor last time waiting, the receptionist was terribly ill-mannered, condescending and her attitude towards me was appalling . Appointments have been impossible to get since the merger. I have received some bad medical advice from one member of the medical team there, fortunately a relative paid for treatment at the Nuffield which saved the day. There are some very hard-working, under pressure doctors and nurses which are doing there very best in a difficult situation, I thank them and hope the government start putting back into the NHS what they have taken away.

I was under maternity care at this practice, referred from the Blackbrook site. I found that I was unsupported when i experienced difficulties, eventually resulting in a pregnancy loss. My midwife was unavailable and in spite of several calls never answered. I ended up ringing the maternity ward at Musgrove but they couldn't help either so ended up in A&E, absolutely terrified. No one took the time to even ask me if I was okay following the experience even though I have mental health issues and I was sent appointment reminders for scans that I could no longer attend. A terrible experience, made much worse by the poor care of this practice. I have been registered with the Blackbrook site since I was born, it was a wonderful place but the change to a joint practice with Victoria Gate seems to have put an end to the attention to detail and genuine care for patients they used to give.
