I cannot speak highly enough about the care and support I have received from the GPS at this practice; one for treatment of a routine medical condition, the other for a sensitive and potentially serious familial mental health concern. | ||||||

My son has complex needs inc autism and neuroligical difficulties.
His GP i feel is the only medic actively currently involved with him ( previous GP also at the valley was just as good with him as are any nurses we had to see previously
) , who has the balance right in communicatin with him and involvin him in care /health decisions. No meltdowns before or after any appointments
,wich im sad to say is not the case elsewhere ,yet at lesst
Involving him in his care at his level and bein clear that he acknowledges him even tho he tends to deals with me (my sons wishes )
his GP writes to him direct and at a human level. Not in a jargon filled patronising over his head way , nor a talk to like he stupid way.
Other medics (not based at the valley) tend to either be insistent on tryin to get him to talk for himself totally independently ,causin meltdowns as it overwhelms him ,or goes the other way and dont acknowledge him at all
So a heartfelt genuine thanks fir how u are with him,other medics could learn alot from you all about comminicatin with vulnerable young people (and thier mums too )
I have zero concerns about my son if the time ever comes ( n this is my desire ) that my som ever chooses to be independent in appointments ,

I'm fully aware and mindful of the pressures that GP surgeries are under, but I can honestly say that I've always been able to see a GP (for myself or my child) when it has been necessary. It maybe that you need to explain briefly to the Receptionist but it's more than worth it to allow your appointment to be prioritised appropriately. All staff are very discrete and professional. Thankfully we don't need to see a doctor/nurse very often, but it's good to know that we can be seen promptly when needed. Very happy with this Surgery. | ||||||
