I joined this practice, because it operated a surgery in my local village, Skellingthorpe. I was unaware, at the time, that the main practice itself operated from another village, Saxilby, which is 10 to 15 minutes away by car, a journey of 4 miles. In comparison, the public transport alternative is terrible, involving two buses and a journey time of over an hour.
At no time has it been easy to obtain an appointment, especially in Skellingthorpe, and I tend to resort to the ‘open surgery’ option (only available in Saxilby) whereby I just turn up in the hope of being seen.
I am now horrified to discover that the surgery in Skellingthorpe is to close. This and my previous experiences begs the question, is this NHS service being run for the benefit of the patients or the doctors? |

The level of treatment we have received has always been excellent, however, their repeat prescription service is an absolute disgrace.
Having dropped off - in person- a repeat prescription with the receptionist at Skellingthorpe on Monday @ 9.30, allowing 3 whole days for it to make it back to Skellingthorpe pharmacy, the prescription should have been ready on Thursday the same week... We went to collect on Sat AM only to find that there wasn't anything for us to collect. I then went back to the surgery the following Monday (7 days later) to ask what their procedure was and had it confirmed that it should have been ready on the Thursday 3 days after dropping it off. The receptionist couldn't offer any explanation as to why it wasn't ready.... turns out they had lost it.....
This could be because when you drop off at Skellingthorpe, the prescription then travels with a member of staff to Saxilby, where it gets authorized and then sent back through to the pharmacy at Skellingthorpe. No wonder it got lost. Why can't the surgery implement a more up to date method ...... Like scan an email over to Saxilby if that's their process so the process can more traceable and prescriptions are available more quickly. If it works for other surgeries why can't they move with the times.... this isn't the first time they have messed up.... with no apology either |
