Netherton Surgery

This is quite possibly one of the worst GP practices that I’ve ever been to. It is impossible to get an appointment initially ring first thing. Call today to try and get appointment as I’m short of breath with asthma and was practically laughed at for not ringing at 8:30. No concern were shown for my condition at all no alternatives were given at all and I was left without any options for treatment. The building is rundown and I’m pleasant. The majority of reception staff are rude and unprofessional. One of the GPs who I thought with my young son spoke to me like I was stupid letter came in with a cold. I appreciate he may not have found it to be serious however I was worried about it. And regardless of that all patients should be treated with dignity and respect. It makes me not want to go there at all and as of today I will be switching to another practice because I don’t want to go back to this one. This same GP has actually managed to prescribe me the wrong dosage of my medication and has continued to do so. No checks have been made whatsoever. There are so many poor reviews online about the surgery and particular members of staff. It is very concerning that nothing is being done about this.

Visited this practice today due to a pregnancy related issue. Upon making the appointment no reception staff advised me it was pointless seeing this person as they are unable to deal with pregnancy issues. I just got booked in with an appointment with no questions about why I was asking for the appointment even though the starter message when you call say the receptionist will ask why you need an appointment. I get in to the consultation room and begin to explain my problem. I am immediately cut off by (what turns out to be) advanced practitioner nurse. "I cannot deal with pregnancy issues, I'll see if I can book you in with another doctor." No regard to the fact I had taken the morning off to see someone to help me. I again began to explain my issue as I am so desperate for help and am struggling to get through the day, I am again cut off with " I cannot help you". I explained that I had requested a repeat prescription earlier in the week but upon receiving it the wrong item had been put on the prescription! I didn't notice until I got home on Friday night so was unable to sort this as the surgery is closed weekends. I explained I was so desperate for something to help I had to phone 111 and get an emergency prescription sent to a local pharmacy, this was at 10pm the night previous to this appointment. During the consultation my phone was buzzing so I took it out to switch it off and was rudely told to put it away. I practically had to beg for this prescription as I feel so unwell. She asked me if anything else could have been making me feel so bad and I said no, it's a pregnancy issue as I have felt this way previously and had been hospitalised because of it. She told me that it's a huge risk giving me the prescription and that she HAD to make sure as it is her giving the prescription (which I appreciate) but the manner in which she asked and spoke to me was appalling. This nurse spoke to me in an awful uncaring manner and I came out of the appointment extremely upset. I was crying before I went into the pharmacy next door. I intend to leave this doctors surgery and sign to a new one. I am also filing a complaint to the surgery itself. My advice would be to go to another surgery and don't be put in a position to have to deal with this nurse. Especially if you are in a vulnerable state.

I have been with this doctor since I was a baby, so that roughly 27 years. I am rarely ever in need of a doctor, however recently I have needed a doctors appointment over something very serious, I can't get one for four weeks fine! I except this. When I do have a doctors appointment though I am seen late, this is also fine I don't care as long as I'm seen. The doctor prescribed me medication and told me 'try' them and if they didn't work come back even though they were aware I needed the correct prescription by the end of the week, so I did and they didn't work which I was all so certain they wouldn't, anyway now the doctor in question is refusing to speak to me on the phone they are refusing to leave me a prescription before Saturday which absolutely necessary as the pill prescribed where to help me with a fear of flying. This is causing me stress and anxiety over the lead up to a holiday. I don't understand what their problem is, they keep leaving messages for me with the receptionists. After 27 years of hardly ever needing to speak to someone the moment in my life when I do, the surgery have treated me like this. So thanks, you are useless to me.
