    After recently having an accident whilst on holiday which resulted in me having an infected leg ulcer I can only offer nothing but praise and thanks for the treatment received. I was seen and treated within one hour of making the initial phone call which was a massive relief due to the nature of the injury. Going further, additional appointments were made on a regular basis even though at one point no slot was available but you managed to fit me in to ensure my ulcer was not deteriorating and dressings were changed as necessary. Thankfully, things are on the mend. I am not very good with names but a massive thank you goes to everyone, doctors, nurses and receptionists. I hope your excellent service continues, thank you so much.

    i have been with surgery for longtime now and it never been this bad The reception is always busy and there are not enough staff answering calls Takes forever to get through on the phone Some staff can be very argumentative Have to wait at least 3 weeks for an appointment

    Thank you for your comments and I am sorry that you feel this way. On opening in the morning and following closure for lunch the surgery is generally more busier than other times. We have recently taken on additional staff to meet demand however, we are very much funding constrained as to how many additional staff we can employ. In order to deal with the call demand we now use and monitor a Stats Wallboard which shows us the number of calls waiting. By monitoring this and at busy periods we are able to divert calls to other admin staff to assist and reduce the number of calls and waiting times. Last year the surgery had over 76,000 incoming calls and over 32,000 outgoing calls and with this volume of calls it is inevitable that there will be some delays. The surgery has seen a steady increase in list size over the last year however, in order to manage this we are now providing more clinical sessions than before. I accept that currently our routine appointment availability is around 3 weeks but locally this is comparatively better than other practices and again this is due to the fact that we provide more sessions. On the day urgent appointments are usually seen the same day and we also offer home visits for housebound patients. I apologise if you feel that staff are argumentative and to address this I would like to invite you to meet with me and discuss further. I am happy to put measures in place and offer additional customer services training to staff, if this is identified.     It saddens me to say but this practice is rapidly going downhill. Appointments are really hard to get and there is only 1 decent GP now. One GP gave inaccurate information, we have private health insurance, and she said that it was quicker on the NHS, well its not and you should be trying to encourage people with private health insurance to use it as this will free up spaces for NHS patient treatment and despite what you think (Dr) it is quicker to use it! Why would you discourage people from using it, they are depending on you to know what to do and you are happy to see them sat on a waiting list when they have insurance, I just don't understand it?
