Millfield Surgery

Sadly all of the negative reviews here are still true, we have a team of Doctors who seem to care little about individual cases. They have a tendency to make what should be an easy process very difficult often resulting in unnecessary added suffering and anxiety. It's almost impossible to have the same Doctor tend to the same case even if said case is long term. Resulting in too many different opinions and not enough action being taken (Too many cooks spoil the broth) Having too many Doctors also leaves a very impersonal feeling in the way they run their appointments. Gone are the days when your GP knows you (This is the first practise I've ever felt this in and I just moved up from London four years ago!) Getting an appointment is quite hard work, getting in contact with the surgery is also hard work. They offer an online consultation process on their website but have said they'd prefer that it's not used and GPs will just ignore messages. Even if these messages are somewhat urgent. One would think that a quick online message would be a better use of time than having to book an emergency appointment every time something is needed to be discussed during an on going case, especially if the Doctors forget to book in for follow up appointments. To be fair there are one or two GPs who do make more of an effort than most there. I've personally had nothing but positive interactions with the receptionist team, they've always been helpful and pleasant to me. Although when I did join the surgery a few years ago there where one or two who had been a tad frosty in person or over the phone but they've either gone or been retrained. The pharmacy team are also great, they've always been pleasant and helpful especially when the Doctors have made major mistakes with perceptions. The mental health team are an absolute joke, as I'd experienced problems in the past I was automatically enrolled into their care. They are there to tick boxes and that's it any real help needed then they will just tell you to refer yourself to the mental health team at York Hospital and despite you telling them you're struggling they won't follow up. When I've finally recovered from my current medical problem I will be leaving and going to Ampleforth or Helmsley. Much smaller practises that probably will be able to provide much better one on one care.
