This service has no professionalism whatsover. The receptionists are abrasive and unapologetic.
I recieved a referral to an ADHD service through this GP. After weeks of waiting, I called to ask on the status of the referral, and was told the referral had only just been made - despite having a letter confirming the referral almost a month before.
Finally, I was cc'd into a letter from the ADHD service to my GP informing me that my referral could not be accepted as the GP is not signed up to the Shared Care Protocol. This means that the GP refuses to monitor your prescriptions if you do recieve a diagnoses. Specialist services thus cannot accept you, because they cannot keep people on their records indefinitely.
This is highly irregular for a GP, and after getting in touch with the ADHD service I was told they have no idea why they are refusing to sign up for the protocol. What is worse is that I was away when this letter was sent from the service, and recieved no communication about the matter from my GP to explain. I got back a MONTH after the letter had been sent, and when I called for information, the recptionist could not even tell me what the Shared Care Protocol was. The only way I could get information was apparently to get a phone appointment with my doctor! This could only be arranged on the day, and when I called there were no available slots...
It is only left to me to transfer to another GP to get this referral. Needless to say, this GP have caused what is already a matter with extremely long waiting lists to be even longer. I should have been about to get an appointment within a month, whereas at this point it looks like it will have taken me half a year to get the matter resolved. |

What a brilliant surgery. I have nothing bad to say. The receptionists are lovely, fair and efficient and all of the medical team are kind, considerate and hard working. Given the MASSIVE pressures on our surgeries in the UK, I am staggered they are able to even hold their heads above water. They are a miracle team. There is no doubt in my mind that members of this team have saved my life. They have cared for my children at a moments notice, and looked after my family. I always remember as a new mum going taking my child to the doctors and being so worried that they thought I was just being fussy. I wasn't and the help my little one needed, they got. More than that, I remember the words of the GP very clearly. 'If you are ever worried about your child, we will always see them.' No doubt you might have to phone in the morning to get a same day appointment. No doubt there will be times where the phone lines are busy. No doubt there will be times where your GP or nurse might be a bit exhausted because they have just done a busy surgery and have probably held together a person in mental distress or who is fearful they may take their own life, helped diagnose a breast lump that needs urgent care, dealt with a child who urgently needs hospital referral, held a patients hand as they go through minor surgery, or taken bloods from a highly needle phobic patient or frankly, that morning seen enough piles to sink a ship, but just take a moment to put yourself in their shoes and see if for what it is. You would be too. They are just human. Just like their patients, and a brilliant set of humans they are. Thank you Borchardt Team. |
