My Dr wouldn't talk clearly enough so I could hear her even though she knew I was calling about new hearing loss. She sighed loudly at me over and over again throughout the call and was using details from another patient, she was furious when I kept pointing out that it was not my record. I had a call back a week later and requested a different doctor, but she called me, sighed a lot and was angry that I tried to talk to someone different. I felt humiliated by those calls and when suffering with severe anxiety could not bring myself to call and suffered for months in silence. |

In late May I contacted the surgery, being 80 yrs old, feeling dreadful, with what I thought was a chesty cough. Granted, reluctantly, a telephone appointment. It took place, and I was diagnosed with ‘Productive Cough’ and prescribed amoxicillin. Felt worse for five days and sixth day had a blue light ambulance journey to hospital. Diagnosed with bilateral PE. Always have trouble phone-wise. My worst wait for answer was 2 hrs 3 minutes. There is more but that’s enough. The receptionists should have medals for patience and caring attitudes whilst operating a totally inadequate communications system and being under certain instructions. I will have to be desperate if I ever have to ask for a face to face appointment. |
