Two of us spent all day trying to get a doctor to see our 91 year old mum, whom we suspected had cellulitis. Eventually spoke to a fantastic 111 doctor who was appalled that her own GP WAS SHOWING NO COMPASSION towards their elderly patient. Within 10 minutes there was a prescription ready to be collected! | ||||||

31 calls it took to get through, 10th in the queue, 30 mins later “sorry we have no appointments left other than if it is a medical emergency” I responded oh well I don’t know if it’s a medical emergency I’m worried but I don’t want to take up an appointment that I don’t deserve…” the response “well we expect patients to make that decision now it’s your responsibility” So I took the appointment offered due to concerns about my ongoing symptoms. Got to the surgery and GP called me in. “So why did you class this as a medical emergency?” Made to feel quite guilty for needing a GP appointment… what is the alternative I wonder a trip to A&E?? Took four days of constant ringing to get a phone call appointment. Doctors said I need an X-Ray and they would refer me straight away so I can pay privately due to the severe pain. One week later and they have still not referred me! the excuse was that the secretary has 57 emails to do. If you work in industry this is a normal mornings work. Very poor and really don't care at all! | ||||||
