Over the past 3 years I have been getting more and more fed up with my GP surgery. There has been 3 occasions when I have required stitches removed and been told to make an appointment with my GP nurse but there have not been appointments available. I had to go to the walk in centre on one occasion and another went past the time and they found it very difficult to get them out. I have had to get my ears syringes prior to have hearing tests at the hospital and again they never have appointments available. If I need to see a GP I have to wait at least 3 weeks for an appointment which is often far too late. My daughter tells me to say it is urgent and ask to see someone the same day but I don't like to do that as I always feel there is someone more sick then me. When you get an appointment with the GP and it does not seem to matter which one, They make you feel rushed and don't give you the time to explain your problems. I recently had 3 things to bring up with the doctor but they clearly told me that they were only allowed to discuss one problem at a time. I been told that my dizzy off balance spells are what I should expect at my age. I am early 80's. Last straw recently is when I told me GP that I was having problems with my memory they did a simple test told me there was nothing wrong with my memory, but because there was a family history of dementia it was very likely I had early signs of dementia. I was numb when I left that appointment, I have heard people talk about dementia but don't really know what to expect. Have I got months years, do have I have to go into a home I felt sick, I have been worrying ever since. My daughter has now told me that this is unexpectable and I should find another surgery and I think she isn't right. I would recommend this surgery to anyone.
