Unfortunately, Wallingford Surgery is incredibly let down by its team of very rude Receptionists. I understand that the surgery is very busy but there is no need to be rude - I am a teacher and I deal with rude people all the time but that doesn't stop me from showing kindness! When I first went in to deliver my new patient form the waiting room was very quiet and the two receptionists were busy talking. As there was no queue I passed over my forms and I was told in a very abrupt manner that they couldn't take my new patient form because they only take them between 10-4pm (it was 5pm - the surgery shut at 5.30pm) I explained that I am at work between those hours so how am I supposed to drop them off? The receptionist let out a huge sigh and said she couldn't do it anyway because I needed photo ID. I quickly pulled out my driving license, gave it to her and she glanced over it and said 'all done' (this took less than 2 minutes of her time). A few weeks later after having an doctors appointment I called up to find out some test results. I pressed number 5 on the menu (or whatever it was) and it rang back through to the reception. The receptionist was very rude and said 'you pressed the wrong number its number 5!' I explained that I had tried to press number 5 but had rung back to her. Her reply was 'do it again then.' I called back, pressed number 5 and the very same thing happened. I explained to the receptionist that it kept going back to her and she said very abruptly 'well call back later then!' and hung up. A few weeks past and I was getting to the stage where I was starting to feel anxious about booking a doctors appointment (I needed to make an appointment to discuss my test results with the doctor) so I emailed the surgery. They replied saying I need to call. I called the surgery. They told me that I'll have to 'call up on the day that I want an appointment but it is only first come first serve???' I asked if I could book an appointment online. They told me I wasn't set up for it and that I should have given photo ID when I first registered. I explained I did. They said 'you mustn't have ticked the box..' I 100% ticked the box as I remember doing it. I am now at the point of complete frustration. All I want to do is make an appointment to see a Doctor to discuss my test results but due to being spoken to constantly so abruptly and rudely I am now at the stage where I am too anxious to even contact the surgery (which is completely ridiculous - I am not an anxious person) I would very much like to change surgeries so I do not have to deal with the Receptionists but apparently I am unable to because this is the area I am in. I have lived in several different places and never had to deal with rude service like this. Its a shame because I think the receptionists seem to forget they are dealing with people that are unwell and have potential health issues.
