I was referred to Spire Lea by the nhs, as there was not a bed for me at Addenbrookes. When I arrived I sensed a good atmosphere, pleasant surroundings, and attentive staff. I was taken to room 140 which was very clean and bright, and had en-suite and a tv. I then met the team and talked to the surgeon, and the team who would be operating on me. I met the nursing staff and a short time later I was taken to the operating theatre. I woke up a few hours later and the surgeon spoke to me. I was able to walk about and chat to the staff, and I felt great. .A nurse got me a splendid beef sandwich and a mug of tea. Later on I had a lovely bowl of carrot and coriander soup, a salmon steak on a bed of potatoe with courgettes, and a lovely crumble dessert. I had a good nights sleep. I left the spire about 11:30 the next day, and I was sorry to leave. I talked to a lot of staff and found them all friendly and a great sense of humour. This hospital is excellent , and the staff first class. Well done every one
