I will my start this review saying thank you to a couple of members of staff who were brilliant at their jobs. However I am taking further a complaint I have with my mistreatment by some residents and staff. I have been left without care for something that I did (which is legal) which was not described as disallowed in the contract I signed at the beginning of my stay witnessed by the manager. I have also not been given any copies of these contracts which is apparently illegal. I have had to ask for them to be emailed to me to take this further. When I was leaving the premises I said goodbye and thanked all the staff. One girl that is a resident harassed me in front of all the staff who looked on and did not defuse the situation. I was also witness to a member of staff failing to attend an emergency on time which resulted in someone very badly hurting herself. There was no food and what was brought into the house and labelled by myself went missing. There also seems to be a sense heterophobia as heterosexual behaviour was not allowed when homosexual behaviour was. * Drugs and alcohol are used on site by residents * The staff favouritise residents and allow them to get away with illegal activity on premises. * The residents get away with harassment. * The contracts that are signed are unclear and do not mention what I have been punished for. Therefore this will be pushed as far as a complaint can go.

an intense and highly clear hierarchy of residents over respites. I had to leave as quickly as i could. Respites are usually highly suicidal and get worse quickly here. Filthy, very little food, of course for the CQC visit some fruit was bought and displayed. Massively understaffed.

My daughter has been diagnosed with chronic depression and Borderline Personality Disorder. Six years ago after a constant battle for appropriate care for her I finally got her into Lilias Gillies House. On paper it was perfect live in and therapy is what I felt she needed. I was led to belive that she will be cared for and shown how to lead an independant life and at the end of her placement she will be able to live independantly and find a job. I guess my expectations were too high and also my daughter was under the same impression and was looking forward to getting therapy and assistance so she can move on with her life. From day one my daughter told me that the place was not what it said it was I looked at a CQC report and found that it ticked all the correct boxes but that is just it. The boxes were ticked but in practice it is a total disgrace and I will not put my dog in a place like that. I have to commend the few staff that are actrually caring and try their best in a very difficult situation. But most of the other staff just do not show enough care. It appears that the main drive of that place is to get in residents to fill the rooms. And there are not enough qualified staff to deal with the typ of residents that are taken in. My daughter has to purchase her own food sometimes as they shop once a week and by the next day there is not much food to eat. She has to purchase her own soap to wash her clothes and then that gets used by other people and is not replaced. she has allergies and can only use certain soaps. Her medication is not administered accurately so she sometimes miss doses. She self harms and it is not reported to her mother as requested to. She drank rat poison and was left to go to hospital in the ambulance on her own as there were not enough staff to go with her. She was attacted and it appears to have no competent stratigy in place to deal with violence and aggression. I find that there is neglect, it is grossly understaffed one staff at night to care for over 12 residents. And staff are uncareing and underqualified to deal with residents needs which are not met. Inappropriate managing of violence and aggression. And lack of communication amoung staff and relatives. I will like to see better staffing levels especially at night. Better qualified staff to care for the residents needs. Better food management. Proper startigy in place to manage violence and aggression. And better communication for staff and relatives.

Community Housing and Therapy have implemented a range of actions in response to comments made about care at Lilias Gillies House: 1. A new project manager has been appointed and has worked closely with the new Clinical Director to implement changes at Lilias Gillies House. 2. Staff at the project have received training in the administration of medicines from our pharmacy provider as well as the local NHS hospitals 3. New updated policies in every aspect of care that are CQC compliant are being introduced 4. The night staff numbers have been increased to two members of staff every night 5. Staff are embarking on training by the Knowledge and Understanding Framework which includes the management of self harming behaviors. There was a recent CQC inspection and a report is expected soon.
