Penlee Residential Care Home

My mum was very well cared for in Penlee Residential Care Home between Jan 2016-Jan 2018.. The staff are friendly and professional. This home has a family/homely feel to it. If ever I needed to talk to staff I felt listened to and mum's needs were met. If I ever had any concerns or felt anxious about mum (as you do when a parent is in care) staff were very understanding and re-assured me. They were always approachable and had time for me. Mum was encouraged to get involved with activities. Visiting is flexible. I often visited during meal times and the food always looked appetising and smelt lovely. Mum's dietary needs were met. Mum's personal needs were carried out with privacy and dignity. She clearly felt comfortable with staff who got to know her well. At times mum could be a tricky character. Staff worked so well with her, often using humour and distraction techniques to get the best out of her. All staff were very kind and extremely patient. Staff were welcoming and warm towards my family when visiting. Mum was very unwell before she died and me and my family spent more time with her in her room. Staff were accommodating and exceptionally thoughtful.
