Jan 19 2013 My nan is in the Manor House after having tried a few different places beforehand. I think the place is nice and clean and looks very modern. On the other hand, for what it costs her its not great value for money. I cannot understand how private care homes can get away with it, but sometimes the residents have no choice. Comparing it to the other care homes she was in previously it does look much nicer, but the concept is not really any different than anywhere else shes been in. The staff seem ok. My nan is not sure. I have been reassured by staff that this is how most residents react at first. Will wait and see, shes quite withdrawn at the moment. This may be because of her dementia, but its difficult to tell. I think I know her better than that. I agree with some of the other reviews by family members, would like to see more going on for the residents as its long days in there for them. So yes and no, The Manor House has both good and bad points.
