Pennystone Court (MHA), Handsworth Road, Blackpool, FY1 2RQ
Pennystone Court in Blackpool was purchased in April 2007 from Places for People. Purpose-built in1989, it was opened the following year.
When MHA acquired it, Pennystone Court had already received a five-star RDB rating (a Residential and Domiciliary Benchmarking award) for the quality of its care services. In April 2000, the home raised money with the aid of the Princes Trust in order to establish a sensory garden. MHA has since developed a UK-wide initiative to design gardens that offer sensory stimulation for those who choose not to go outside as well as provide a variety of other stimuli for those who do.
Safe routes encourage residents to make their way through the garden, while the planting provides a variety of experiences through the seasons, " says the Manager. "Raised beds make vibrant colours and aromas more accessible and plants you&d want to touch are used as well as grasses and bamboos that produce sounds in the wind. Water features not only produce sounds but can also be lit at night.
Privacy and independence, friendship and support - 24 hours a day
Pennystone Court offers care and comfort, compassion and friendship. At the heart of all we offer is our assurance that you will be treated with the respect and dignity that we all deserve, and if you need anything at all, we&re here to help, 24 hours a day.
Whether in the privacy of your own room or relaxing in the company of your friends and neighbours, we will support you to spend your time doing the things you enjoy. Let us know if it&s music, a favourite newspaper, exercise or a spot of pampering at the salon. Landscaped gardens invite you to appreciate the fresh air, or tend the plants, if you wish.
Meal times are a special part of the day for you to savour tasty food, freshly cooked by our chef to suit you and any dietary needs. And, of course refreshments are available throughout the day for you and your visitors, who are welcome at any time.
