Haslewood Avenue

Haslewood Avenue is a registered care home for eight people with learning disabilities, some of whom also have physical disabilities and can display behaviours which can challenge. The vision at Haslewood Avenue is to enable each resident to move forward and develop their independence. This is achieved by providing personalised support so each resident can make informed decisions which will allow them to live a happy and fulfilled life and make a positive contribution to society.

The residents at the home are non-verbal or have limited verbal communication skills, but we believe that this should not hinder their ability to express themselves. All residents are encouraged to make decisions about their daily lives using images and actions and through staff observing facial expressions. All residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by deciding on the wall colour, as well as bring their own personal belongings with them when they move in. These personal touches also create a homely environment, as being a long-term home we believe that it is essential that the home reflects the preferences and styles of all the residents living there.

All our residents are treated with the upmost dignity and respect and we are dedicated to providing top quality personal care tailored to the needs of each individual resident. Staff are experienced in all aspects of personal care, including feeding, bathing, shaving and washing; and the home is equipped with the most up-to-date facilities for administering such care; such as a wet room with an adapted bath. We aim to ensure we meet all the health needs of our residents, including being flexible as their needs change over time.

Haslewood Avenue is fully accessible for wheelchair users and all residents are encouraged to be as active as possible around the home. We also& value and promote equality and welcome diversity at Haslewood Avenue.
