There were 52 people using the service at the time of our inspection. The home consists of a nursing unit on the ground floor, and a dementia care unit on the first floor. There is no registered manager at the service.

Apr 28 2014 New Elmcroft is a lovely building, bright, spacious airy and fresh looking. Food is generally good, often freshly prepared but tea-time (supper) needs improvements. Mainly soup of a sort or sandwiches with same fillings most evenings, sometimes dry. Individual diet needs can often be forgotten. No permanent manager since last September. Staff turnover and morale compromises resident care as does. Relatives are heard but not listened to. Communication is a major failure. Housekeeping standards are inconsistent. Shaw needs to uplift management practices, relying less on professional nurses and more on recruiting people with understand and care about dementia.
